A NUMBER of firearms were stolen from a house in the Ballitore area over the weekend in a burglary which is under investigation by local gardaí

According to Supt Joe Prendergast, the break-in at the private house took place between 9 and 10pm on Saturday evening and the gardai are appealing for any information, particularly if anyone noticed any unusual vehicles or individuals in the Ballitore area on Sunday evening.

A second home in the locality was also targeted by thieves on Sunday at around midday. The unoccupied house, in the Colbinstown area, was broken into and a quantity of property was stolen.

Meanwhile, in Newbridge, a quantity of medical equipment and drugs was stolen from a car parked in the Kilbelin area at around 10.30pm on Sunday night.

While some of this property has since been recovered, Supt Prendergast noted that a number of vials containing drugs are still missing and these could be dangerous if taken. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the gardaí at Newbridge on 045 431212, or any garda station.
