BALLITORE garda station will close its doors on Friday 25 January.

The closing date was announced yesterday by Superintendent Joseph Prendergast  following the recent decision of the Garda Commissioner in relation to the rationalisation of  garda stations throughout the country.

From this date members of the public wishing to conduct business at a garda station will hae to contact the station in Athy.

In an effort to have some continuity Supt Prendergast said: “The local garda currently based in Ballitore will continue to work with the local community, supported by gardaí from Athy.”

Garda clinics will also be arranged periodically and will be held in the library in Ballitore.

There will be no set time for these clinics but the community will be informed at a local level as regards the dates and times of these clinics.
