CLUB Kildare chairman Pat Mangan was angry by the poor attendance from clubs at last week’s launch of their annual draw.

The county’s supporters club – which is the only fundraising body for Kildare GAA – has struggled to get clubs to support draws in the past and last Thursday night (2 May) at Hawkfield, the small attendance spoke volumes.

“I’m disappointed at the poor attendance from clubs,” said Mangan. “I hope this is not an indication of the effort clubs are going to put into the selling of tickets for the annual draw.”

The Club Kildare annual draw is one of the most important sources of revenue for Kildare GAA.

“Supporting our county teams and underage development is the responsibility of all the clubs in the county. Club Kildare can only organise these events we need the support of the clubs and the County Board to make a success of them,” said Mangan.
Kildare senior football manager Kieran McGeeney attended the launch and said that on behalf of team management and players he wanted to express their thanks to all the people who work so hard to provide the support necessary to our county teams. He reported that training was going well in the build up to the first championship game against Offaly.
First prize in the draw is ownership of a racehorse for a year. This fabulous prize has been very kindly sponsored by Charles O’Brien. He will provide a racehorse and train it for a year. The horse will be registered in the winning owners’ colours and race in their name. All winnings will go to them as well.
Tickets for the draw are available through clubs and this year there will be an early bird draw (Thursday 11 July) which includes prizes of: 10 Leinster Football Final Tickets, 2 Munster Hurling Final and a Brady Family Ham hamper.

The main draw will take Place on Tuesday 20 August. There will also be prizes for the top sellers of the main and early bird draws. Tickets are €20 each or book of 12 for €200. They can be purchased through any club in the county. Alternatively contact: clubkildare@gmail.com.
