STUDENTS past and present from Clongowes Wood College will gather at the Curragh this Sunday, 19 April, for the school’s inaugural Bicentenary Race Day.

A great day is planned with the first of seven races scheduled for 2.20pm and the last race at 5.30pm.

“The school has very close links to horse racing in Ireland being  based in Ireland’s thoroughbred county, Kildare, and it is appropriate that many of its alumni have gone on to enjoy success and be influential in the world of horse racing and breeding,” said a spokesman for the school.

“Many others have and continue to excel in the sport horse sector.”

The race day is part of a number of initiatives that are taking place as part of the school’s bicentenary celebrations.

Among the races taking place will be the Clongowes Wood College Bicentenary Race and it is also planned for a horse in the race to carry the recently designed Clongowes Wood College colours for the first time.
