TWO elderly brothers sustained minor injuries during a tussle with three men who were armed with a sledge hammer and knives who had broken into their home.
The aggravated burglary occurred at Loughbrown on the Curragh on Friday night last (25 April) at approximately 10.40pm. It’s unclear how the intruders entered the house but all three had their faces covered and were brandishing the sledge hammer and the knives as they made their way through the home of the elderly gentleman who are both in their 70s.
A small amount of cash was taken during the incident.
There was a tussle between the two men and the intruders and during the course of the struggle the two men received minor injuries. Once the alarm was raised the men were brought to hospital and were treated overnight before being released the following morning.
The home of the two men was forensically examined by gardaí who are appealing for anyone who may have been in the Loughbrown area on Friday night between 10pm and midnight and who may have seen anything suspicious to contact them.
