TWO burglars were chased by a resident of The Close, Curragh Grange, in Newbridge when he spotted them fleeing from a nearby house with a safe under their arms.

Two men, who are described as being of slim build and in their early 20s, forced open a rear window at the back of the house at 5.30pm on Thursday before pulling the alarm off the wall.

A resident of the estate heard the activated alarm and when he looked out his window he spotted two males fleeing the scene with a small safe. He chased after them on foot but they managed to escape through the Millfield estate. The safe contained a small amount of personal documents.

One of the men had a hoody pulled over his head and the second male had his hair cut tight at the sides with a lot of hair on top.
