A LITTLE bit of Bollywood came to Kildare last week when some filming of the upcoming production Guns ‘N Roses’ took place in Aras Chill Dara, Naas and at White’s Castle in Athy.

The film is directed by Shawn Arranna and stars Shekhar Kapur. Kapur’s historical biopics on Queen Elizabeth’Elizabeth (1998) and Elizabeth :The Golden Age’ (2007) won the BAFTA Award for Best Film and two Academy Awards.

Mayor of Kildare, Cllr Brendan Weld visited the filmmakers on the set and welcomed the opportunity to use the Áras building in an alternative way.

County Arts Officer Lucina Russell stated that she was delighted that ‘Kildare is becoming known as a film-friendly county’ and looks forward to further supporting this sector in the coming years.
