PEOPLE ARE invited to take a nostalgic trip down the memory lanes of Naas in a new book. Local historian Larry Breen has yet again dug up the gems of Naas’s past for his new book, which will fittingly be launched in the old chamber of the town hall on Thursday 24 November.

Nas na Riogh: reflections and recollections – long ago and not so long ago delves into the past of Naas while at the same time comparing and contrasting then and now. “It is full of historic images depicting shop fronts, buildings, people and places iconic to the history of Naas,” said Mr Breen.

Mr Breen, who is well known in Naas through his work with the local history group, is donating all profits from the sale of the book to the Kill Saplings School, which provides a unique education for children with autism.

The book follows on from his very successful exhibition Naas Then & Now, held during the County Kildare Decade of Commemorations programme.

“It’s a very attractive publication in full colour; it will have appeal to the people of Naas, their families, friends and indeed the Naas diaspora worldwide,” he added.

“The publication is unique in that it takes the reader on a nostalgic trip down memory lane while at the same time comparing and contrasting the town with the present. It is full of historic images depicting shop fronts, buildings, people and places iconic to the history of Naas.”

The book launch will take place at 7.30pm and will be launched by well-known local historian Liam Kenny. All are welcome to attend.
