NEWBRIDGE gardaí are investigating a number of burglaries which have been carried out locally in the past week.
Among them was a break-in at a house in Pairc Mhuire on Tuesday last 24 January between 2 and 5am. The house was entered while the occupant was asleep in bed and the thief actually stole a handbag from the bedside table.
The handbag, minus the cash it had contained, was found in the area of The Oaks at around 11.30am on Tuesday morning.
Jewellery was stolen in two break-ins in the area, which occurred on Friday last. A house at Greenmount Park, Green Road, was entered during the day, between 10.30am and 7pm, when a front window was forced open. The jewellery was stolen from an upstairs bedroom.
A house in Christianstown, just outside Newbridge, was similarly targeted between 5pm and 9.30pm on Friday evening, with what is described as “a considerable amount of jewellery” being taken on this occasion.
Investigations into all of these incidents are ongoing and anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in any of these locations, or who has any information about any of the incidents, is asked to contact Newbridge garda station, in confidence, on 045 431212.
