KILDARE Town nightspot Tiger Lily’s was apparently the place to be on Saturday night when cast members from the reality TV show Tallafornia landed in town to set Tiger’s roaring.

A feast of fake tan, nail wraps, hair extensions and inane chatter which frequently rises to well beyond boisterous, the show is a hit with the teenage glamour clamour brigade and no doubt the presence of the Tallafornia gang provided the regular Tiger Lily’s clientele with some unexpected entertainment. Those who are suckers for a spot of wannabe celebrity probably relished the experience of pounding the dance floor alongside those who are already enjoying their .. minutes of fame.

As far as the rest of us are concerned, let them at it. The Tallafornia tribe can gi ld the Lily’s in Kildare any time th ey want. After all, it’s not costing us anything. Or is it?

The question was raised after some Tiger Lily’s patrons spotted a couple of garda squad ca rs in the vicinity of the club on Saturday ni ght.

Presumably the guards weren’t looking for autographs, or planning their own reality show (Garda Siocornia?) so they must have been there in their off icial capaci ty.

Was this just a regular weekend patrol in case the local tiger cubs start growling at each ot her or was th e po lice pr esence a protective measure, in th e event of a battle breaking out, with the “celebrity” visitors sent scuttling back to Dublin mi nus their hair extensions and false eye-lashes. A sort of Curragh chorus of “Tallfornia, there you go”?

Not so. It seems the garda presence was a matter of routine patrol, with a spokesperson co mmenting that the policy on weekend nights would generally be to keep a close watch on town centre activities and especially areas where large crowds are gathered. So, shucks - it seems the Tallafornia team are not so special af ter all!
