Raise your cuppa

IT’S time for a cuppa – but not just any old cuppa.

The Kildare branch of Down Syndrome Ireland will be holding its second annual coffee morning fundraiser from Monday 6 to Sunday 12 September inclusive.

The event, which was formally launched by broadcaster Brenda Donohue last week, is being run on a countywide basis, with members throughout Kildare hosting coffee mornings and inviting friends and neighbours to lend their support.

According to Cora Purcell from the branch, the coffee mornings can be hosted in private houses, workplaces or clubs and all contributions raised through the events, however small, will be very much welcomed by the branch.

The money will go directly towards the Kildare branch’s speech and language therapy programme. The branch, which provides services and a support network for those with Down’s syndrome and their families, has a centre at College Park, Newbridge.

The Kildare organisation is run on a voluntary basis and it organises a range of events and activities during the year, along with offering specialist therapy programmes geared towards those with Down’s syndrome.

Cora commented that anyone interested in having further details and posters to advertise a coffee morning, can contact the Kildare branch office on 045 487584 or 086 0869897.

There will be a coffee morning on Sunday 12 September at the Church Hall Staplestown after 11.15 Mass and also at the Kildare branch office 35 College Park Newbridge on Wednesday 8 September from 10am to 12.30pm.
