DUBLIN 5-18 KILDARE 0-6
KILDARE senior ladies footballers opened their Bord Gais Energy league campaign with a home game against Leinster rivals Dublin. This is very much a new look Kildare team featuring a new manager and new faces for the 2012 season. Facing Dublin at any time of the year is always a tough task but this Dublin team arrived to Ballykelly in flying form and made their intentions known early in the game.
By half-time they had created a gap between the sides, Kildare 0-1 Dublin 3-8. Dublin continued to dominate the game and finished with an impressive win 5-18 to 0-6. On what was a bad day at the office for Kildare some positives to be drawn include a good performance from Aisling Savage in the full-back line, Maria Moolick worked hard and the highlight of the day was the debut of St Laurence’s star Eimear Fogarty who scored two points and gave a good performance. The introduction of the new faces in to the team shows the transition taking place in the team at present.
Next up for Kildare is a home game against Donegal Sunday 12 February in Ballykelly at 2pm.
