29 people charged in connection with ongoing theft investigations in Dublin 7

Gardaí have charged 29 individuals in connection with ongoing investigations under Operation Táirge, targeting incidents of theft, handling stolen property, criminal damage, and assault on staff in retail premises in the Dublin 7 area.

Operation Táirge is part of An Garda Síochána’s Crime Prevention and Reduction Strategy supporting operational activity aimed at detecting and preventing Organised Retail Crime (ORC).

A total of 40 charges are being brought against 25 men and four women, aged between 18 and 60, charged with 35 separate offences in this phase of the investigation.

The 29 individuals are scheduled to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice on Wednesday morning.

In addition to those appearing in court on Wednesday, gardaí said a further one person has received an Adult Caution and another individual has taken part in a formal restorative justice session under the National Juvenile Diversion Programme.

The Bridewell Community Policing team has also engaged with retail premises and businesses in the Dublin 7 area to provide reassurance and offer Crime Prevention and Awareness advice

Investigations are ongoing.
