Kildare Co Council has said it is aware of a fault with a parking meter at Meeting Lane in Athy and this is being addressed by their contractor. A motorist took to the Athy Notice Board Facebook page recently to share their experience at the Meeting Lane car park, saying they paid €1.20 but received just one hour of parking (a sign in the car park states that the charge is 60c per hour).

The individual added that they never realised it at the time and returned to find a parking ticket on their car. Others chimed in to share similar experiences.

The Kildare Nationalist stopped by the car park last Friday morning to see if we could replicate the issue. However, after paying €1.20 at 9.08am our expiry time was marked as 11.08am. In a statement to this paper last Thursday afternoon, a KCC spokesperson said they will examine any appeals received on a case by case basis for this location.
