Flanagan to remain as Kildare manager for 2027 The Kildare County Board has confirmed that Brian Flanagan will remain in charge of the county's senior football team in 2027.
A statement released late on Thursday evening read:
"Brian Flanagan was appointed Kildare Senior Football Manager in 2024 on a four-year term.
"Following a comprehensive review of the 2026 season, Brian Flanagan will continue as Kildare Senior Football Manager in 2027, with the full support of the Kildare GAA Executive and Management Committee.
"We wish Brian and the team the very best of luck in 2027."
The Johnstownbridge clubman enjoyed early success during his first season in charge as Kildare secured promotion from Division 3 and claimed the Tailteann Cup title.
However, the 2026 season proved disappointing as Kildare were relegated from Division 2 and lost eight of their final nine games.
Flanagan's original management team included Daryl Flynn and Aidan O'Rourke, while Davy Burke was added to the ticket ahead of the 2026 campaign.
Changes are expected within the backroom team, although no alterations have been officially confirmed at this stage.
Confirmation of Flanagan's continuation comes ahead of a County Board meeting next Tuesday evening. It will be the first such meeting since June, when a number of club delegates voiced their dissatisfaction with Kildare's performances during the 2026 season.
