A MAN was fined a total of €1,500 and was disqualified from driving for six years after being pulled over by gardaí for careless and drink-driving.
George Darker (58) of Beechwood Avenue, Newbridge, who had been previously convicted in 2009 for other road traffic charges, returned a reading of 105 mgs of alcohol per 100ml of breath on the breathalyser – the legal limit is 22mgs.
Judge Desmond Zaidan said: “That’s four times over the limit.”
The offence occurred on 2 February, 2025 at Station Road, Newbridge, where the man was given two charges of the Road Traffic Act for careless driving and drink-driving.
The two offences accumulated a larger fine and driving disqualification time, with a fine of €1,000 and disqualification of six years given for driving under the influence of alcohol, and a further €500 fine and a concurrent disqualification of two years.
