The haul was estimated to be about €240,000 worth of cocaine, which also brought a charge of trafficking

A MAN accused of possession of 3kg of cocaine and ecstasy, who then allegedly engaged with a period of intimidation and blackmail of a witness with his girlfriend - which included a tracking device on his car – were both sent forward for trial to the next sittings of Naas Circuit Court, commencing on 13 January.

Patrick Coady (36) of Mountain View, Blessington Road, Naas; and Aoibheann Wall (25) with an address in Piercetown, Newbridge were both before Judge Desmond Zaidan for their books of evidence and adjourn date.

It was alleged that “a large quantity of drugs was discovered at an address in Naas on 3 October and reported to the gardaí”.

The haul was estimated to be about €240,000 worth of cocaine, which also brought a charge of trafficking.

“It is then alleged that there was intimidation and blackmail of the injured party, and a tracker put on his car,” said Sergeant Dave Hanrahan at a recent sitting of Naas District Court.

The tracker was discovered on a vehicle in Ballymore Eustace on 25 September, and it is alleged that there was a demand of €240,000 to be paid by the third party “or I’m going to shoot you”.

Mr Coady is also facing possession, and possession with intent to supply charges of an unspecified amount of ecstasy (MDMA) on 13 June at the Naas Sports Centre in Jigginstown.

Though only Mr Coady is facing the drugs charges, both he and Wall are charged with the possession of the tracker device and the blackmail, and both will next appear in Naas Circuit Court on 13 January.
