SCHOOLS IN Kildare are to receive a €2.9m grant to improve their information and communication technology (ICT) and minor works, Kildare South TD and Minister for Agriculture, Food and Marine, Martin Heydon announced last week.

€1.2m will be provided to primary and special schools in Kildare this week for use on a devolved basis for maintenance and small-scale improvement works, while a further €1.7m will issue in January to all recognised special, primary and post-primary schools in the county.

Education Minister Hildegarde Naughton announced €65m in minor works and ICT grant funding for schools across the country.

Minister Heydon said: “Providing certainty around the timing of minor works and ICT funding for the future means that schools can plan ahead and make smart, flexible and timely improvements. For students and teachers this means safer facilities, better technology and learning environments.”
