Kildare teen alleged to have assaulted two gardaí

The alleged assaults are said to have occurred last April
A man who assaulted two female gardaí to the point they had to attend hospital will have to return to court in March to have the case heard after his barrister indicated he would be pleading not guilty.
Naas District Court heard how Cathal Keenan (19), The Heath, Liffey Hall, Newbridge was charged with two counts of assault causing harm following his arrest at Curragh Grange on 24 April last.
“Following his arrest he assaulted two (named) female gardaí,” said Sergeant Dave Hanrahan.
“What injuries did they sustain?” asked Judge Desmond Zaidan.
“I don’t have that detail yet,” said the sergeant.
“Weapons? Broken bones?” probed the judge.
“I don’t believe so, judge, but both members attended hospital,” said Sgt Hanrahan.
“I will accept jurisdiction,” said the judge.
“I expect it will be a contested matter,” said Mr Keenan’s barrister Mark Gibbons, before adding: “He has more (charges) up on 27 March”.
On that, Judge Zaidan remanded Keenan on continuing bail until 27 March for hearing.
“You should have the two guards in court on that day, sergeant,” the judge reminded Sgt Hanrahan.
