Kildare twins charged with assault

TWIN sisters allegedly in a vicious assault on the streets of Newbridge will have to return to court in September to find out which court will hear their case.
“A serious assault?” asked Judge Desmond Zaidan, sitting in Naas District Court recently (4 June) in the cases of Kelly (22) Rosconnell Lane, Newbridge, and Karlene Tidd (22), Kilbelin Abbey, Walshestown.
“Yes,” said Sergeant Mary Meade, as the stood behind their solicitor Tim Kennelly.
“Are they over 18?” asked the judge.
“Yes!” said the pair in unison.
The sergeant explained how on 5 April 2025 on Edward Street in Newbridge when the injured party was approached by “a woman looking for her friend, and asked to borrow her phone”.
“She was then kicked in the face by the woman, and another woman … she was then taken to Naas General Hospital for treatment, while there was €200 damage to the injured party’s phone,” said Sgt Meade.
“What was the reason for this? Pure thuggery?” asked the judge.
“We don’t know yet,” replied the sergeant.
“C’mon. You should know by now!” remarked the judge, as he remanded the pair on bail to return to court 1 September for DPP’s directions.
