Jayden Parsons and Carlsen Sadula celebrate after Parsons had opened the scoring against Longford

UNDER 17 MENS LEAGUE

KLUB KILDARE 6

LONGFORD TOWN 1

The under 17 team got back to winning form with the return of players from holidays and from injury with a comprehensive victory over Longford Town on a scoreline of six goals to one in FBD Hotels and Resorts Park on Sunday afternoon.

Playing with the advantage of a strong wind Klub Kildare raced into an early lead as Jayden Parsons scored after eight minutes.

Although in control Klub Kildare did not take their chances and turned over to face the strong wind with the advantage of only one goal lead.

Two quick goals in the fifty third and fifty fourth minute by Podge Gleeson and Fionn Kirby gave Klub Kildare a strong foothold on the game. The goal by Kirby deserves special mention as he received the ball in his right full position and set off beating player after player until he had only Zyrek the Longford keeper remaining in front of him and he cooly slid the ball beyond his reach for a brilliant goal.

Zain Ali and Paul Abankwah added further goals to give Klub Kildare a convincing win.

LEAGUE OF IRELAND UNDER 17 WOMEN’S LEAGUE

KLUB KILDARE 4

LONGFORD TOWN 4

Klub Kildare and Longford Town played out a thrilling 4–4 draw in a match full of goals, intensity, and late drama. Kildare controlled long spells of play, moving the ball superbly and playing great football, but were denied victory by a last minute free kick.

Kildare started brightly, taking the lead in the 9th minute through Lennon Brophy, who finished confidently after a flowing team move with Keela in the right place at the right time, Longford responded midway through the first half, with Magovern equalising in the 24th minute and then putting the visitors ahead early in the second half (46th minute) following a well worked attack.

Kildare’s composure and passing quality began to shine as they regained control. Ellie Mae O’Neill levelled from the penalty spot in the 61st minute, showing calmness under pressure. Lynch then fired Kildare ahead in the 73rd minute, finishing a slick attacking sequence that reflected the team’s dominance in possession.

Longford hit back quickly through O’Reilly in the 74th minute, but Kildare continued to press and were rewarded when Buckley converted a penalty in the 80th minute to restore the lead. The home side looked set for all three points until stoppage time, when O’Reilly struck again from a free kick in the fourth minute of injury time minute to snatch a draw.

It was a high quality, physical contest with plenty of attacking football and determination on both sides. Kildare’s performance showed continued progress — confident on the ball, and disappointed not to collect all three points.
