Laoise Lenehan and Rian Boran have named as captain of their respective Kildare teams.
Kill clubwoman Lenehan replaces Grace Clifford as the captain of the Kildare ladies football team with Eadestown's Ruth Sargent named as vice-captain. The team are under new manager Pat Sullivan this season and after winning Division 2 and 3 in the last two seasons begin their National League Division 1 campaign at home to Waterford on Sunday 26 January.
Boran is named as captain of the Kildare senior hurlers. Manager Brian Dowling is thought to like to rotate his captaincy each year so the Naas man takes over from Paddy McKenna, who lifted the Christy Ring Cup on the steps of the Hogan Stand last year. Maynooth's Cathal McCabe will be the team's vice-captain.

Meanwhile, Dowling has named his squad for the upcoming season ahead of the hurlers beginning the league season away to Down in Ballycran next Saturday. Celbridge's Gerry Keegan returns to the panel and they are 14 players named from six-in-a-row champions Naas but the Coill Dubh quartet of Johnny Byrne, Declan Flaherty, Mark Grace and Mark Delaney are all missing.
