A new survey commissioned by Too Good To Go, the world's largest marketplace for surplus food, has revealed the true cost of food waste in Irish households

A quarter of Irish people have admitted to wasting a whole plateful of food, while 18 per cent waste two or more.

New figures published by the European Commission show food wastage levels in Ireland on a per capita basis were 10 per cent above the EU average of 132kg per inhabitant in 2022.

Asked if he wants to be Ireland’s EU Commissioner nominee, Charlie McConalogue said: ‘I have more than enough on my plate.’
