The Ulster Museum’s entire costume and textile collection was destroyed following a firebomb attack at Malone House in 1976.

The grants have been delivered through the Arts Council’s National Lottery Project Funding.

It comes as the festival transforms public spaces with more than 30 exhibitions.

The remains are believed to have been taken from Hawaii island in 1840 and brought to Belfast.

The Belfast venue will host Caravaggio’s The Supper at Emmaus and The Taking of Christ next month.
