The assault took place in the early hours of Sunday, October 26th.

Following the incident, the man was conveyed to University Hospital Waterford for treatment of serious injuries.

Two men in their 20s were later arrested in connection with the investigation.

The boy was taken to the Mater Hospital, while gardaí have preserved the scene and carried out a technical examination.

A man in his 40s remains in a critical condition in Beaumont Hospital after the attack.
