Michael Shine worked as a consultant at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, Co Louth, and was later found guilty of sexual assaults on nine boys.

Shine worked as a senior registrar at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda from 1964 to 1995.

David Cullinane also said a public inquiry, requested by victims of Shine, should ‘absolutely’ be set up.

Simon Harris described Shine as a ‘vile paedophile’ who has brought pain and misery to many of his victims.
