The Lyrid meteor shower - which is also known as 'the harps' - is caused when the Earth passes through debris left by a passing comet.

Spectators will need to wait until the sky is quite dark, and are urged to try and view as late as they can.

The Draconid meteor shower, also known as the Giacobinids, will peak on Sunday night after nightfall, starting from Friday.
