A new study found fewer than one in 10 individuals who attended hospital following a fall or collision involving the devices was wearing protective headgear.

A teenage boy has died following a collision between a car and an e-scooter in Kilkenny

Gilbert Collins, of Ardmore Park in Ballybeg in Waterford, died alongside his friend Avuzwa Idris when the e-scooter they both were using collided with a private coach on the Cork Road.

Avu Idris (17) and Gilbert Collins (15) died following the collision in the early hours of Thursday morning

A second boy was injured in the collision

The incident happened on the Old Tramore Road at Greenfields, at approximately 3pm.
