Organisers have said that the gatherings are an opportunity for people to show their support for thousands of people who took part in protests on the M8 last week.

The man in his 20s was arrested on Friday and is currently being detained at a Garda station in the Southern Region.

Fianna Fáil’s Ryan O’Meara said he had contacted the gardaí about the incident.

Riona Molony officially announced the Molony family’s decision to retire from racing at the Tipperary track.

Gardaí said the scene is currently being preserved for technical examination and investigations are ongoing.

The man is due to appear before Nenagh District Court on Thursday.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
