ONE of two men allegedly involved in the armed robbery of two Kildare convenience stores was remanded in custody for a fortnight at Naas District Court recently. Sergeant James Kearney, prosecuting, told the court how Darragh Gaynor (37), with an address on the Navan Road in Cabra, Dublin 7, was allegedly one of two men armed with knives who went into the McCabe’s Gala Store in Kilmeague on 8 August and took €390 in cash, and €80 worth of scratch cards.
“The next night it was Londis on the Main Street in Prosperous, where they took €500,” he said. “They fled in the same car – a black Passat – as the night before and were seen on CCTV.
“A search was carried out, and clothing was seized matching that seen on the CCTV,” added the sergeant.
Sgt Kearney explained to Judge Desmond Zaidan that Mr Gaynor, who was appearing from custody, had been there since his arrest on 29 August.
The judge accepted this and, without any application for bail, remanded Mr Gaynor into custody for the maximum fortnight.
