Man appears before court charged with Portarlington assault

A 41-YEAR-old man was brought before a sitting of Portlaoise District Court today charged with assault causing harm at Main Street, Portarlington on Sunday 7 June.
Det Garda Kelly said that when Ian Barnes, 785 Charleston Place, Finglas, Dublin 11 was charged with the offence, he made no reply after caution.
Det Kelly said there was no objection to bail being granted.
Judge Susan Fay set an own bail of €1,000, with a cash lodgement of €500, and remanded Mr Barnes on continuing bail to the 20 July sitting of the court.
