Men charged after €80,000 of drugs seized in Athy
€80k of cannabis and cocaine, along with cash and hydraulic compactor which were seized in Athy over the weekend
On Saturday (16 May) members of the Kildare South Drugs Unit executed a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at a residence in Athy.
During the course of the search, gardaí seized approximately €60,000 worth of suspected cannabis and approximately €20,000 worth of suspected cocaine.
A quantity of cash, drug paraphernalia consistent with the sale and supply of controlled drugs, and a hydraulic compressor were also seized.
Two adult males were arrested at the scene and conveyed to Newbridge Garda Station, where they were detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act.
Both males were charged and appeared before Naas District Court on Monday (18 May). Gardaí objected to bail for the two accused men, however both males were granted court bail of €5,000 cash lodgement and remanded in custody pending further bail proceedings.
Investigations are ongoing.
