Mullen voted in as new chairman of Kildare GAA

Celbridge's Mick Mullen has been elected new chairman of Kildare GAA at this evening's annual County Convention at Cedral St Conleths Park.
After a closely run contest, Mullen was elected ahead of Bryan Murphy on a margin of 95-85.
After Murphy spoke to congratulate the winner of the election his running mate, Colm Nolan, also spoke to congratulate the winner but on the basis that he was running alongside Murphy he withdrew his nomination for vice-chairman meaning Larry Curtin was elected to the position.

"I'm very proud and humble to accept the role," said Mullen during his first speech in the role.
"I'll serve the county to the best of my ability," he added.
Earlier in the evening, Mick Gorman was thanked in particular by secretary Christine Murray and treasurer as he completed his five year term as chairman.
"It's been the experience of my lifetime," he said before passing the torch on to the newest incumbent.

In the only other election on the evening, Ger Donnelly and Dave Cahill were elected as Central Council delegates ahead of Séamus Ó Mídheach and Leonie Delaney.
