A NEW centre for children's therapy services in Carlow inched another step closer last week with confirmation that funding has been approved.

The development will include a new building for Holy Angels Day Care Centre, including a pre-school facility and therapy pool, on the Kelvin Grove, Athy Road, Carlow site.

“Minister of state for disabilities Anne Rabbitte approved funding for the construction of new building for children’s therapy services, including a pre-school facility and therapy pool on the Kelvin Grove site, and this is to be welcomed,” said deputy Jennifer Murnane O’Connor last week.

Minister Rabbitte announced a total of €23m in capital funding for disability capital projects in 2024. The minister also asked the HSE to develop the first-ever disability specific multi-annual capital strategy.

“I’m thrilled to receive confirmation that Holy Angels will receive significant funding for the construction of a new building at Holy Angels in Kelvin Grove to help children with disabilities,” said deputy Murnane O’Connor.

“This investment will improve disability services for children in the community and their families.”

The Holy Angels school for children with special needs is a designated pre-school in Carlow for children from the age of 18 months to six years and has been operating for over 40 years.
