Newbridge United celebrate tenth anniversary in style

Two of the greatest left-footed players to ever pull on the green jersey of Ireland were in town recently to help Newbridge United celebrate their tenth anniversary and annual awards night at the Keadeen Hotel.

Kevin Sheedy and Steve Staunton, who won First Division titles with Everton and Liverpool respectively, amassed a combined total of almost 150 international caps and featured on some of the most famous days in Irish soccer.

They were the guests of honour, but the night was all about Newbridge United and about a club who have grown from humble beginnings in remarkably quick time.

Formed in 2016, the club now caters for academy football through to their senior mens and womens teams.

Looking back on the night, Newbridge United Vice-Chairman Scott McNamara said:

“It was a great honour to celebrate ten years of Newbridge United FC at our 10th Anniversary Awards night in the Keadeen Hotel.

“As Vice-Chairman, I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has contributed to the club’s journey and success over the past decade. Our players, coaches, managers, volunteers, committee members, parents, families, sponsors, supporters and, most importantly, our amazing community. They have all played a vital role in making Newbridge United FC the club it is today.

“Congratulations to all of our award winners. Your commitment, hard work and dedication throughout the season are a credit to you, and it was a pleasure to recognise and celebrate your achievements.

“A special thank you to everyone who worked behind the scenes to organise and deliver such a fantastic evening. Events like this take a huge amount of time, effort and commitment, and your contribution is greatly appreciated.

“Reaching our tenth anniversary is a significant milestone and one that everyone connected with Newbridge United FC should be incredibly proud of. Our club is built on people, passion and community, and we are extremely fortunate to have such an amazing community supporting us every step of the way.

“Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey over the last ten years. Your continued support means so much to the club and its players.

“Here’s to celebrating our achievements, embracing the present and looking forward to an exciting future together as we continue to grow our amazing community,” said McNamara.
