€175,000 for four Kildare recreational areas

Moore Abbey Woods is one area that will benefit

A FUND of €175,000 granted to for projects in Kildare to improve outdoor recreational facilities has been welcomed by Kildare South TD and Minister for Agriculture, Food and Marine, Martin Heydon.

Minister Heydon said this funding directly supports the ambition of the National Outdoor Recreation Strategy ‘Embracing Ireland’s Outdoors’.

“I’m delighted to see funding of €175,000 this week (14 August) for outdoor projects in Kildare. This funding will be used to improve facilities in some of Kildare’s most used amenities as well as developing potential new and exciting recreational features in Kildare.

“I’m particularly delighted to see funding for Killinthomas Woods and Moore Abbey Woods, which have both provided so much joy for the community over the years.

“There is also funding for a feasibility study on the exciting possibility of a new outdoor recreational amenity to reflect our links with St. Brigid – the St Brigid’s Camino - along with the possibility of creating a pedestrian and cycling link between the new Kerdiffstown Park facility and Naas.

“This new funding is going to make a big difference for outdoor amenities in Kildare, making them even better for local families and visitors alike and providing a boost for local economies. It’s so important to get out and make the most of what our outdoors has to offer.

“I want to thank the community groups across Kildare who work so hard to develop and enhance recreational amenities in our local community. These amenities are here for us all to enjoy. I really encourage everyone to get out there and enjoy the incredible outdoor spaces Kildare has”.
