A PIECE of land in Newbridge, located at the junction of Liffey Lane and James’s Lane to the rear of Eyre Street, is to be reviewed by Kildare County Council for possible use as parking.

This follows a motion by cllr Chris Pender seeking the move to support residents and businesses affected by the limited parking available in the area.

At a recent meeting of the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District, the councillor was told that additional parking may not be the best use for such smaller urban spaces, but he said the area had previously been used for parking.

"If we are ever to make improvements to the street, we have to recognise the need to look for more parking," said cllr Pender.

"Even to have alternative parking for residents, this site could be a nice way to support them and the businesses."
