Allenwood water mains works to be completed later this year

Allenwood water works
Uisce Eireann has announced that works to provide a more reliable water supply to the community of Allenwood are progressing well, and in a statement issued last week they confirm that 1.3 km of a 4km stretch of new water mains has been replaced to date.
This has been welcomed by Senator Fiona O’Loughlin who has highlighted the issue of water outages in the Allenwood-Kilmeague-Robertstown area several times in the Seanad.
“The community there has seen numerous outages, sometimes occurring as frequently as once a week and having a hugely negative impact on houses and families,” she said.
Programme Manager for Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme, Nicola Butler said that “the works will provide a more reliable water supply to the community, reduce high levels of leakage, and ensure a reduction in disruption from bursts and supply interruptions for customers, instilling greater confidence in the community”.
“Replacing these problematic water mains will eliminate existing leaks and significantly reduce the amount of clean drinking water lost into the ground.
“Uisce Eireann want to thank the residents in Allenwood for facilitating these works to provide a more secure and reliable water supply for generations to come.
“This work will bring a range of benefits to the community including security of supply, and will also help us achieve our 2030 goal of a national leakage rate of 25 per cent, which we have reduced from 46 per cent in 2018."
The working hours are from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday, and Uisce Éireann expects these works to be completed by early Q3 2025.
