A decision is due in February
Big expansion planned for Kildare hotel

Keadeen Hotel, Newbridge

PLANS have been submitted for a significant expansion of the Keadeen Hotel in Ballymany, Newbridge, which would see the hotel increase its bedroom capacity and upgrade several on-site facilities.

The application, lodged by Keadeen Hotel Management Company Ltd, seeks permission for a two-storey extension providing an additional 53 bedrooms. If approved, the development would increase the hotel’s total number of bedrooms from 69 to 122.

The proposed works also include alterations to the hotel’s main entrance, with the addition of a glazed canopy structure and entrance portico, as well as a covered walkway linking the existing main entrance to the new extension.

Plans also provide for an extension to the existing bar and lounge area and the installation of a marquee-type structure within the hotel’s garden. As part of the development, the current amphitheatre-style outdoor ceremony area would be removed, and a new gardener’s shed would be constructed on site.

The application further includes the reconfiguration of the existing surface car park, along with additional parking spaces. The total number of parking spaces would increase from 252 to 272, incorporating electric vehicle charging points and accessible parking spaces.

Further information was requested by the planning authority and has since been received, with a decision due for 18 February, 2026.
