Celbridge booked their place in the semi final of the Joe Mallon Motors Senior Football Championships when they overcame a timid Clane performance to run out eleven point winners.
Celbridge led 1-6 to 0-3 at the break courtesy of an Aaron Browne goal two minutes before the break Tadhg Montgomery and Aaron Browne swapped points inside the opening 7 minutes but Clane could only ad two frees from Sam McCormack and Brian McLoughlin before the break.Celbridhe for their part were more economical with their possession and with Aaron Browne and Fergal Conway in scoring form they started to put daylight between the sides.
Browne's goal just before the break came courtesy of a penalty but he had to reply on the rebound after a fine Cian Burke save.
Two early second half points from Shane O Sullivan helped reduce the gap but they were never going to trouble a solid Celbridge outfit.
Paddy Brophy Mick Konstantin and two from Tony Archbold helped regain an eight point lead and although Clane huffed and puffed they couldn't refuce the gap.
Celbridge finished in style as Fergal Conway brought his personal tally to 0-3 before Niall O Regan got his name on the scoreboard.
As Celbridge booked their place against the winners of the Newbridge Derby it was fitting that man of match Aaron Browne would bring proceedings to an end with his fifth of the day.
