Bus shelter upgrades planned for Kildare town

BUS shelters in Kilcullen are set to be considered as part of planned upgrade works in 2027.
In a recent meeting of Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District, cllr Tracey O’Dwyer asked the council to outline the timeline for the installation of bus shelters in the town.
In response, the council said it will liaise with the contractor and designer working at Cross and Passion College to explore the possibility of delivering a bus shelter at the conditioned bus stop, where feasible.
In its answer, the council also confirmed that other bus stops in Kilcullen will be assessed for potential upgrade works, including the installation of bus shelters, as part of its 2027 programme.
The council has not provided a specific installation date for the shelter at Cross and Passion College, stating that delivery will depend on feasibility and liaison with the contractor and designer.
Cllr O’Dwyer also sought an update on the installation of bus notification poles at the church stop and Newbridge Road stop in Kilcullen for the Local Link service.
According to the council, the bus stop at Kilcullen Church forms part of Local Link Route 892.
The council said the route is likely to be fully assessed for the delivery of required infrastructure in 2027, where feasible.
