ANGER was expressed recently at the lack of a bus stop in a busy part of Naas.
At the most recent meeting of Naas Municipal District, cllr Fintan Brett asked the council to confirm when the bus stop at Poplar Square will be reinstated.
Kildare County Council’s response, issued by senior engineer in sustainable transport and traffic management Chris Galvin, said that the bus stop “is still under review and the Active Travel Team will update the members in due course".”
Cllr Brett struck a tone of exasperation, saying that “all I’m asking is just put a bus stop there”.
He that he cannot understand why the bus stop was taken out and said he has been looking for it to be reinstated for two years.
He commented that the bus stop should have been put back in after upgrade works were carried out at the location, and added that it’s reinstatement would make it easier for elderly people to access essential services such as GPs and pharmacies in the town centre.
