KILDARE County Council will write to the National transport Authority (NTA) requesting a new bus stop at Curragh Farm, Newbridge.

This was agreed at the most recent meeting of Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District, where cllr Chris Pender tabled a motion asking the council to write to the NTA seeking the new stop. The councillor said that it would serve Curragh Farm, Pairc na Manach and the surrounding residential area.

Senior engineer Chris Galvin issued the council’s written response, which said that the local authority would write to the NTA if it was agreed by the councillors.

Cllr Pender made the case for the bus stop, saying there has been “significant development at that end of town”, with there being a demand for public transport that is more accessible for locals.

Newly elected cathaoirleach Suzanne Doyle expressed her support for the motion and indicated that councillors were in agreement that the local authority should write to the NTA.
