ST CONLETH’s GAA car park in Newbridge has been included in the draft town renewal masterplan, for upgrades to its entrances, exits and signage.
A motion submitted by cllr Chris Pender prompted Kildare County Council to outline the current condition and maintenance arrangements for line markings and signage at St Conleth’s GAA car park and its associated access areas in Newbridge.
The motion specifically sought clarity on when the area was last inspected, what upgrade works are planned, and how responsibility for ongoing maintenance is assigned.
In response, the Strategic Projects and Public Realm (SPPR) section confirmed that a proposal to upgrade the car park, along with its entrances, exits, and signage, has been included in the draft masterplan.
The report noted that delivering these improvements will require a combination of resources from the SPPR and the Active Travel Team, supported by an identified budget.
The update indicated that the project remains at proposal stage.
Cllr Pender told the meeting of Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District that the area needs fresh markings on the roads.
Separately, the council stated that there are currently no immediate plans to carry out works at the car park. However, the council has committed to inspecting the site to assess the extent of any required maintenance or improvements.
