Busy Kildare road getting more speed ramps

Athgarvan Road, Newbridge
Road safety measures are to be installed on the Athgarvan Road in Newbridge, following an update given by Kildare County Council.
At the most recent meeting of the Kildare-Newbridge MD, cllr Peggy O’Dwyer inquired about the status of the Road Safety Audit following recent roadworks on the Athgarvan Road.
Responding to the query, Daragh Conlan, Acting Senior Engineer with the Transport Design Team, confirmed that a Stage 3 Road Safety Audit had been completed on the upgraded section of the road.
The audit identified the need for additional traffic calming measures to reduce vehicle speeds.
As a result, four additional speed ramps have been proposed by the developer, Glenveagh.
Their locations have already been approved by both the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District and the Roads Planning Section of Kildare County Council.
The ramps are expected to be installed shortly, pending approval of a road opening license and traffic management plan by the MD office.
Council members will be updated on the timeline once these approvals are in place.
