THE Kildare Holstein Friesian Club recently enjoyed two successful events, highlighting the enthusiasm and dedication of both its young members and local dairy farmers.
The club's Young Members Association (YMA) Calf Show took place at Punchestown on Sunday 5 July, attracting an excellent turnout of competitors, families and supporters.
The high standard of calves and showmanship on display reflected the commitment and hard work of the young members throughout the year.
The coveted Champion Calf title was awarded to Joe and Kevin Doran with their outstanding calf, Dondale Punch Apple.
The Champion Handler award went to Hannah Healy, who impressed the judges with her confidence, presentation and excellent stock-handling skills.
The club extends its congratulations to all prize winners and thanks everyone who participated, attended and helped make the event such a success.
The club also recently held a well-attended field evening on the farm of Tony and Robbie Jackson in Kiltegan. Members had the opportunity to tour a superbly managed herd and hear first-hand about the Jackson family's approach to breeding, herd management and dairy farming.
The evening provided an excellent opportunity for members to exchange ideas, learn from one another and strengthen the strong sense of community that exists within the club.
The club wishes to thank the Jackson family for their warm hospitality and for sharing their knowledge and experience with members.
The club looks forward to a busy programme of events for the remainder of the year and encourages anyone with an interest in pedigree Holstein Friesian breeding and dairy farming to get involved.
