Councillors have called for a pedestrian crossing near residential developments on the outskirts of Newbridge, with concerns raised over pedestrian safety and accessibility.
At the latest meeting of Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District, cllr Peggy O’Dwyer brought forward a motion calling on the council to review a location for a pedestrian crossing near the Treacy Meadows and Rathcurragh housing estates.
An executive engineer issued the council’s response, which stated that the MD office has agreed to carry out 'a technical assessment at this location', adding that works would be subject to the availability of funding.
Cllr Chris Pender said: “We currently have people that cannot walk on that road to get to school and the Curragh”.
