Call for public lighting at Kildare community centre

Caragh Community Centre
THE LACK of public lighting on the approach to Caragh Community Centre was brought up in the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District.
Cathaoirleach Peggy O’Dwyer requested the installation of public lighting along the approach to Caragh Community Centre.
In response, the council confirmed that all such proposals must be processed through the Kildare Lighting Infrastructure Priority Scheme (KLIPS), and ensured it would assess the request and add it to the KLIPS register.
Each application under KLIPS is ranked according to specific criteria, proceeding on a priority basis as resources allow.
However, the report also noted that no funding has been allocated for this particular project at this time.
Cllr Chris Pender who was in support of the motion, was concerned about the proposal being entered under KLIPS, worrying that it might “score low on the priority list” as it is a rural village.
He asked that priority for the scheme be looked at again.
