Cedral St Conleths Park will host the All-Ireland Club Football Championship semi-final between Dr Crokes of Kerry and Errigal Ciaran of Tyrone on Saturday 11 January at 3pm.

The was game was initially scheduled for O’Moore Park in Portlaoise last weekend but the inclement weather caused it to be postponed. It was then refixed for the same ground but has now been switched to Kildare’s home venue.

It gives local football fans the chance to watch some top class action on their doorstep. Dr Crokes boast the likes of Tony Brosnan and Micheal Burns and remarkably still have three players in their squad who featured in 2007 when they beat the then Kildare and Leinster champions Moorefield at the same stage after a replay. They have reached four All-Ireland finals in total and won twice, most recently in 2017.

Errigal Ciaran lack that top level experience but won the Ulster for the third time with a dramatic win over Kilcoo last month and they contain stars in Darragh and Ruairi Canavan, sons of the legendary Peter, and their cousin Tommy.

The game will be the second All-Ireland semi-final to be played at Cedral St Conleths Park since the opening of the newly redeveloped stand last October. In December, there was another Munster v Ulster clash when Sarsfields of Cork beat Derry’s Slaughtneil in the All-Ireland Club Hurling Championship semi-final.
