Clear takes the reins in Naas Municipal District
The Naas Municipal District Committee appointed cllr Bill Clear as Mayor and cllr Ger Dunne as Deputy Mayor of the Municipal District
INDEPENDENT Ireland councillor Bill Clear has been appointed as the new Mayor (cathaoirleach) of the Naas Municipal District.
The appointment was announced at the annual meeting of the Naas Municipal District last week, with cllr Clear’s party colleague, cllr Ger Dunne, retaining the position of Deputy Mayor.
Cllr Clear succeeds veteran councillor Seamie Moore in the role.
Cllr Dunne proposed cllr Clear for the role, and Fianna Fáil councillor Carmel Kelly seconded the nomination.
Cllr Anne Breen proposed herself for the role but did not receive the support of a seconder.
Mayor Moore described the honour he had experienced “of being the most senior political member of a 50,000 people of our district” and praised cllr Dunne for the “splendid job” he had done whilst standing in for him in April and May of this year when he was absent due to illness.
Cllr Clear also praised cllr Dunne for the “excellent job” he had done whilst standing in for cllr Moore.
